How To Go From "Cheating" To Actually Learning

Hi, my name is Sarah. This is the story of how K12 has helped me. I became a homeschooler in 1st grade, and was homeschooled all the way through 4th grade with different curriculums. It worked for a while, but then I started to have problems. I was hiding my homework and copying answers. I wasn’t really learning anything, so my parents and I decided it was time for a change. I’ve always loved computers, so they decided to find an online school. For about half of 5th grade I was enrolled in an online school called Time 4 Learning. It worked for a little while, but then, more often than not, the program would freeze up on me. By January of 2011, the program was just not working. So for the rest of 5th grade I was homeschooled again. In summer of 2012 my parents were informed that K12 had finally come to TN. My parents talked to me about it and asked if I wanted to try it. I thought about it and the two main reasons I said yes were probably because I was tired of not being able to talk to friends very often (because I live in the middle of nowhere) and I love the computer. My brother and I were enrolled and started school by August 17th. So far, 6th grade has been my favorite year of school in my entire life. I loved my teachers and learned so much. My teachers were patient with me and very kind. My English teacher was very encouraging. By the beginning of February, I loved school and was looking forward to all of the classes that I had previously hated. My history and science teachers helped me to enjoy their subjects. I had so many class connects to choose from each day that I was glad that they weren’t required. I got to choose which ones I went to. Until I went to K12 I had never ever liked writing. Now, thanks to my English teacher, Ms. Wright, I love writing. The next year my brother went back to homeschooling and I stayed with K12. My mom and I hope that I’ll be able to stay in K12 ‘til I graduate from High School. Thanks K12 for helping me enjoy and understand all of my schoolwork. Thanks for having such great teachers that encourage me to be the best student that I can be.
