Sounds of My Barrio

Where I am from…

Lady Liberty, she never sleeps

She watches over the people of la Gran Manzana

On a good day we don’t fear the sirens,

I like to tune the sounds out with Bachata

And pretend that someday the madness will become...

A love song

Because Arroz con Pollo is better while shared in good company

Where I am from…

It’s okay not to be “Made in America”

Because I was made by the water

Just not the Hudson

In my Bronx Barrio everyone there was just like me

Sun-kissed, caramel complected with salsa rhythms in their eyes

That dances through the streets of Soundview
