Neodesha Nights
I love when night falls
On Neodesha,
When all of night's critters
Come out to play.
Owls soar above the trees like ghosts,
"hoo, hoo, hoo!"
Young bucks dance through the fields,
"grunt, grunt, grunt!"
Possums wake to feast on crawling bugs,
"crunch, crunch, crunch!"
Armadillos uncurl and scratch the ground,
"scratch, scratch, scratch!"
Coyotes eerie cries echo through the darkness,
"yip, hooo, yip, yip!"
An opera of crickets chirp cheerfully in harmony,
"chip, chip, chip!"
And little, grey mice scurry through the grass,
"squeak, squeak, squeak!"
I love when night falls
On Neodesha,
When all of night's critters
come out to play.
