In Islamic Culture we follow the 5 pillars of Islam:1) SHAHADAH;    You become Muslim by saying: La illah illah lahu Muhammadur Rasullah. There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Muslims believe in Allah with all His 99 names.2) SALAT:   Muslims perform five daily prayers ( salah ) at different times in the day facing Makkah. These times are at dawn ( fajr), noontime (duhr), afternoon ( asr), sunset (maghrib) and evening (isha). This is the Islamic way of Praying. Salat is performed in Arabic language. Starts from Takbeer and ends on Salaam.3) ZAKAT:  Muslims have to pay charity to the poor and needy. It is a Muslims duty to give 2.5% of their income to the poor/needy. Zakat is a form of alms - giving treated in Islam as religious obligations for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth. This is a compulsory charity but you can also give sadaqa ( voluntary charity).4) SAWM:   Muslims fast in the month of  Ramadhan ( ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims are obligated to fast everday from dawn to sunset, so we do not drink or eat during daytime. Fasting requires the abstinence from food and drink. We pray a special prayer called Taraweeh and celebrate Eid - ul - Fitr at the end of Ramadhan. 5) HAJJ:  The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, the Holy city of the Muslims. Muslims have to go to Makkah at least once in their lifetime ( if they can afford to ) by the adult muslims, who are physically, financially capable of undertaking the Journey, and can support their family during their absence. We remember the story the story of sacrifice by Prophet Ibrahim during this time and celebrate Eid - Ul - Adha.
