My Hawaiian Culture
by Rylan | October 26, 2017
I celebrate my Hawaiian culture by making floral hair pieces with my Grandma. Every summer I travel to O'ahu and stay with my Grandma. My Grandma is 80 years old and enjoys teaching me how to make floral hair pieces that we can wear. She walks me through her garden and we pick the best flowers. We rinse them with water and let them air dry. Then she shows me how to gather the flowers at the stems and wrap them in raffia ribbon. I didn't think my first hair pieces came out nice, but my Grandma told me to wear them with pride anyway.
